Today marked the official announcement of NPR’s latest local-national journalism initiative, and the biggest, broadest one yet.

Three cheers for NPR, building upon its member-station news network, today announcing the “Impact of Government” reporting project. The key is the network-station editorial relationship. This is an excellent example of how NPR can help grow its own public service by aggregating funding and expertise for the direct benefit of local stations. The “virtuous cycle” is something all social innovators look for, and here you have a great example of it.
